Sometimes I will discuss my thoughts and experiences in my blog, and other times, I will present a question in
my forum, and you can send me your thoughts on it. My favorite responses will be added to the site. All
responses should be sent to covenmusic@gmail.com, and please add your first name or online alias and where
your from in the email. There is no right or wrong answer, and you may answer one section of the question or
the whole thing. I will present points of view from both sides of the argument.
FORUM QUESTION #1
The other day I was talking to someone who was somewhat jaded, and although I do not revel in his kind of
negativity, he did get me to start thinking about our education system. I want to know what you think!
Does a University really promote creativity or has it become a lumbering bureaucratic system stabilized by
tenures and seniorities? Are universities too concerned with maintaining the status quo, not offending anyone,
and not rocking the boat to encourage the kind of open and free thinking environment needed to spawn creative
thought? Are educators dishing up doses of numb knowledge cafeteria style with empty calories from a sterile
kitchen or is the university a breath of fresh air where one can learn and freely express themselves? What
direction is our education system going? Are there any prevalent trends, good or bad? Why?
